Scholarship needed
Wednesday, March 04, 2009
I am in the RN-BSN completion program, upon acquiring my BSN my hope is to
work in the City of Illinois within a community Health sector; with hopes of
developing health promotions and awareness programs. I used to work on a
med-surg unit, and I thought I would never want to leave the floor until I
went back to school my eyes were opened to the fact that I may be able to do
more, I see that there is a greater need in the improvised communities, and
I want to be one of the ones who help, so many resources are available yet
go unused while others are over used I want to try and bridge that gap as I
was recently introduced to a service that help families with children
needing special services as I have a 14 year old brother with severe
profound disabilities whom I care for It gets hard at times but that’s
what has made me the caring compassionate person I am today and with all the
hardships I wouldn’t have it any other way. I recently had to cut my hours
from 36 hours a week to 12 since becoming a full time student, so at this
point making ends meet is getting more and more difficult so I went to the
nursing department at my university requesting information about
scholarships and was told that due to insufficient funding there wasn’t
any available WHAT?!!! Was my reply as the coordinator of student academic
services told me I am sorry, (mind you the school paper is proud to announce
the opening of a 60 million dollars science center) well I told her thank
you left and went searching on my own and there you have it I applied and am
hoping you choose me as I am greatly deserving of this scholarship due to
the fact that this will benefit my 5 year old daughter, my brother, and
myself by helping ease a part of my financial burden.
Thank you all for this opportunity your consideration.
